Obama Political Issues

Abortion- Barack Obama is pro choice he thinks that if one of his daughters make a mistake and gets pregnant that they should have the choice on if they want to keep that baby.

Educations- Obama encourages the ability to a good early childhood education. He wants to make science and math education a national priority. He also wants to invest 10 billion dollars to increase the access of kids who are eligible for an early head start.

Death Penalty- Obama feels that the death penalty is good in sometimes. He thinks that if the crime is very serious like terrorism or the hurting of a child then it might be ok. But he also helped to pass the first video tapping of interrogations. He did this because he thinks that the country has made some mistakes with the death penalty and is glad that we are improving.

Environment- Obama will implement an economy wide cap and trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This would make the USA a leader in the global effort to change the climate. He also wants to establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard.

When he was senator in 2002 he said that "I know that invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East and encourage the worst rather than best impulses in the Arab world and strengthen the recruitment arm of al Qaeda. I am not opposed to all wars; I am opposed to dumb wars." This means that even though war might seem good now later down the road it will just cause us more problems.

Economy/Poverty- Obama supports bushes 700 billion dollar bail out package. He said that America is facing a great financial crisis and that the rescue plan is absolutely necessary to prevent an economic downfall that would cause millions there jobs and force companies into bankruptcy.
